有一只知更鸟在我心中
想要逃脱
但我太让他为难
我说，呆在那，我不打算
让任何人看见你。
有一只知更鸟在我心中
想要逃出来
但我大口喝纯威士忌，呼吸着
香烟烟气
妓女、调酒师
商店职员
没有人知道
他在
那。
有一只知更鸟在我心中
想要逃走
但我太为难他，
我说，
别跑，难道你想把我弄得
一团糟？
你想把我的作品
搞砸？
你想阻止我把书销往
欧洲？
有一只知更鸟在我的心中
想要逃离
但我太聪明，我只偶尔
在晚上放他出去
那时别人正在熟睡。
我说，我知道你们在那，
所以不要难过。
接着我把他收回来，
但他在那唱得微弱，我不得不让他
在那儿悄悄地死去
我们睡在一起像
是
带着我们
秘密的约定
他足够美好
而使一个男人
哭泣，但我不会
哭泣，你

but I pur whiskey on him and inhale
cigarette smoke
and the whores and the bartenders
and the grocery clerks
never know that
he's
in there.

stay down, do you want to mess
me up?
you want to screw up the
works?
you want to blow my book sales in
Europe?

but I'm too clever, I only let him out
at night sometimes
when everybody's asleep.
I say, I know that you're there,
so don't be
sad.
then I put him back,
but he's singing a little
in there, I haven't quite let him
die
and we sleep together like
that
with our
secret pact
and it's nice enough to
make a man
weep, but I don't
weep, do
you?
