Respect to the Golden Gate
FENG YANSI (903-960)
Translated by Tulip
A waft of wind breezes,
Rippling the water of a pond of spring.
Idly I play with mandarin ducks on the path sweet,
While rub red apricot petals with my finger ring.
Alone I lean the railing to watch duck fight,
Feeling on the head my jade hairpin slanted to side.
All day long I’m waiting you but none of you to appear,
Raising my head, I’m delighted with magpies to cheer.
