Working in a foreign province, my dialect needs to adapt to
Mandarin with a Hubei edge.
Most times, people talk, I stay quiet, barely making my utmost effort

On the seventh of April, I carried in my hand a bottle of liquor
mirroring lovesick Xiao Li, the third place winner in academics.
sneezing, coughing with a fever in Luohu district.
Passed it onto my cousin via droplets. He took no medications due to tight budget
Lifted his eyes to the moon mimicking Li Bai the poet

Bowed his head down and thought of Wangjia'ao

This is our world, a workers shelter, like Shouxi Cottage
inhabits seven provinces.
seven or eight dialects: playing Peek-a-boo
seven or eight liquor bottles: 38, 43 and 54 degrees
seven or eight kilos of homesickness: leaning left or right
Every face is raising
seven or eight mosquitoes.

Approaching year end, it's super cold. My cousin
made his utmost effort but could not get a homecoming ticket.
The flu has spread to Liberation Road, Bao'an Avenue South and Shen'nan Road East

Relatives of Wangjia'ao, some are at home sitting by the fire
Some are wet in the Canton rain
building the Emperor Mansion to 69th floor, reaching 383 meters height.

湖北普通话。
多数时，别人说，我沉默，只需使出吃奶的力气

四月七日，我手拎一瓶白酒
模仿失恋的小李探花，
在罗湖区打喷嚏、咳嗽、发烧。
飞沫传染了表哥。他舍不得花钱打针、吃药
学李白，举头，望一望明月。

低头，思汪家坳。

这是我们的江湖，一间工棚，犹似瘦西篱
住着七个省。
七八种方言：石头，剪刀，布。
七八瓶白酒：38°，43°，54°。
七八斤乡愁：东倒西歪。
每张脸养育
七八只蚊子。

岁未，大寒。表哥
使出吃奶的力气，没挤上一张回程车票。
伤风扩大到深南东路、解放路与宝安南路。

汪家坳的亲戚们，有些在家中围坐炉火
有些淋着广东省的雨
将地王大厦码到69层，383米高。
