这首为好友哈勒姆写的悼亡诗以大海为背景，用海浪撞碎在礁石来比况自己心已破碎，用鲜活的现实照应逝去的往昔。
大海啊,冲刺,冲刺,冲刺,
撞碎在冰冷灰暗的礁石!
但愿我能找到恰当的语言,
借以表达内心泛起的遐思。
啊,带着妹妹欢叫嬉戏,
那是哪户渔家的孩子?
啊,站在海湾的船头歌唱,
年轻的水手,高涨的兴致!
一艘艘庄严肃穆的船只,
朝着山下的海港疾驰:
啊,那熟悉的嗓音全都沉寂,
那握过的手掌早已消逝!
大海啊,冲刺,冲刺,冲刺,
撞碎在峭壁脚下的岩石!
温馨的关怀一去永不复返,
如何追回那以往的时日。
