    (注)这首歌到底要表达什么？在网络上，曾看到三种不同的解释，可能是：
1）描述美国富人的奢侈，
2）Eagles表达对美国音乐工业的不满，
3）这只是Eagles吃了药，在幻觉下，随机作出来的一首歌，歌词本身不具任何意义。
本翻译采用的是第2种解释。有网友(不详)分享，他在大学时的英文课，教授曾经拿了这首歌的歌词给学生，请学生写下『他们认为这首歌，到底在表达什么？』。因为这首歌里面的很多事物，乍看之下并没有关联。比方说，加州旅馆代表什么？为什么会是1969年？多半的学生都认为这首歌，应该是和堕落靡烂的演艺圈生活有关。
    最后，这位教授讲解歌词，其实是Eagles表达当年对音乐工业的不满。加州旅馆指的是洛杉矶，也就是他们录唱片的地方。1969年，洛杉矶曾发生歌手与唱片公司冲突，接着很多歌手离开当地的唱片公司。这位教授自称是Eagles的鼓手，Don Henley的朋友。这首歌的缘由，也是由Don Henley亲口向他解释。《三分钟热度/作 2011-7-1》
