James Mercer Langston Hughes (February 1, 1902 – May 22, 1967) was an American poet, social activist, novelist, playwright, and columnist. He was one of the earliest innovators of the then-new literary art form called jazz poetry. Hughes is best known as a leader of the Harlem Renaissance. He famously wrote about the period that "the negro was in vogue" which was later paraphrased as
"when Harlem was in vogue".

詹姆斯-默瑟-兰斯顿-休斯（1902年2月1日 - 1967年5月22日）是美国诗人，社会活动家，小说家，剧作家和专栏作家。他是被称为爵士乐诗歌的当时新文学艺术形式最早的创创始者之一。休斯是最有名的哈莱姆文艺复兴的领袖。他写了著名的关于当时的“黑人的盛行”，后来被意译为“哈林盛行时”。
