THE SECOND COMING
Turning and turning in the widening gyre
The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.
一圈又一圈盘旋在扩大的漩涡中，
猎鹰无法听见驯鹰人；
万物崩碎，中心难再维系；
混乱遍布世界各处，
血染的潮水涌出，四处蔓延
圣洁的庆典被淹没；
善良的人们缺乏信念，而卑劣的人
却激情涌动
Surely some revelation is at hand;
Surely the Second Coming is at hand.
The Second Coming! Hardly are those words out
When a vast image out of Spiritus Mundi
Troubles my sight: a waste of desert sand;
A shape with lion body and the head of a man,
A gaze blank and pitiless as the sun,
Is moving its slow thighs, while all about it
Wind shadows of the indignant desert birds.
必定有天启出现，
必定有二次降临。
二次降临！几乎脱口而出

备注：
Spiritus Mundi：在拉丁文中表示 World spirit 的，叶芝用它来表示 collective soul of universe，包括了一切时间的记忆。
Bethlehem: 伯利恒，耶路撒冷附近，相传为耶稣诞生之地。
这首诗是 叶芝 写于1919年第一次世界大战之后，对战争的反思，预感世界的末日危机。二次降临 来自于 圣经.新约.马太福音 的预言。叶芝的诗歌充满神秘色彩，很多诗歌也有很强的画面感，营造出唯美、朦胧，又略有忧郁的氛围。
