The northward road went to the capital Horses wet with sweat were exchanged here As a boy I had not seen any horse Passing the post road of my hometown The autumn had come with red fallen leaves Maple Fragrance Post, in the past happy time The village lass Tying up hay in the rice field Always imagined the emperor's manner After a gust of whirlwind All my town fellows were poor All children were from poor families One and another section of the post road Nobody could reach the end All the messages dashing forward in the night Are official messages And then it was winter and began to snow Maple Fragrance Post quieted down gradually In the cold whiteness The sound of hoofs could hardly be heard
