（Untitled）

‘With how sad steps O Moon thou climbst the sky
How silently，and with how wan a face! ’➀
Where art thou? Thou so often seen on high
running among the clouds a Wood-nymph’s race! ➁
Unhappy nuns，whose common breath’s a sigh
Which they would stifle，move at such a pace!
The northern Wind，to call thee to the chase，
Must blow to-night his bugle horn. Had I➂
The power of Merlin，Goddess! This shoud be:➃
And all the stars，fast as the clouds were riven，
Should sally forth，to keep thee company，
Hurrying and sparkling through the clear blue heaven；
But，Cynthia! Should to thee the plam be given，
Queen both for beauty and for majesty.

➀这两行诗，原系英国诗人菲利普•锡德尼（1554—1586）的十四行组诗《爱星者与星》第31首的头两行。华兹华斯为了押韵，把锡德尼原诗中的skies改为sky。
➁据说，山林精魅快步如飞。人的肉眼本来看不出月亮的移动，但迅速飞飏的浮云常使人产生错觉，以为是月亮朝着相反的方向在急急奔驰。贾岛的诗句“走月逆行云”简练而又传神地描绘了这种景象（虽则是假象）。
➂希腊罗马神话中的月神（阿尔忒弥斯或狄安娜）同时又是狩猎女神。
➃墨林：西欧中世纪“亚瑟王传奇”中的预言家和术士，曾帮助亚瑟王创造出许多奇迹。




咏月（一）

“月亮啊，你脸色苍白，沉默
无语，举步忧伤，缓缓迈上天庭！”
你在哪儿呢？常常见你高悬，
穿云疾飞，宛如林中精魅穿梭风行！
忧郁的修女，她们总是压抑着
胸中的叹息，就显得像你身若幽影！
北风啊，今晚他定会吹响号角，
召唤你去狩猎。此刻我的一个愿景
能有墨林的法力，月亮啊，那样，
我就会撕开满天云霓，让群星
一拥而出，与你结伴，伴你同游，
相耀生辉，漫行于湛蓝的天空；
月亮啊，你终将获得无上的荣爱，
你是女王，因你的美丽和雍容。

Even as a dragon’s eye that feels the stress
Of a bedimming sleep，or as a lamp
Sullenly glaring through sepulchral damp，
So burns yon Taper’mid a black recess
Of mountains，silent，dreary，motionless:
The lake below reflects it not；the sky
Muffled in clouds，affords no company
To mitigate and cheer its loneliness.
Yet，round the body of that joyless Thing
Which sends so far its melancholy light，
Perhaps are seated in domestic ring
A gay society with faces bright，
Conversing，reading，laughing；—or they sing，
While hearts and voices in the song unite.





咏月（二）

你像一只龙眼，因睡意沉沉
半睁半闭；你又像一盏灯火，
燃烧着忧郁的光，透过阴森潮湿，
闪烁于遥远的那幽深的山壑，
是那样的沉静，凄凉，无声无息。
云雾浓烈弥漫，将昊空掩遮，
湖水遂是一潭的黝黑，不映天辉，
你啊，郁郁寡欢，孤独寂寞。
你虽黯然惆怅，可是你终散发着
辽阔的清冷之光，好像是说
环绕你身旁，正围坐着家庭的欢聚，
一个个欢乐的星辰，光芒四射，
有说，有笑，——载歌载舞，
心声，欢声，汇成了一首歌。

诗人二首咏月十四行诗，触景生情，以景而喻人生。
诗人隐居于湖畔，以孤寂之月自比，只要闪光，就会赢得辉煌。诗人一生正是如此，隐居于鸽巢，而登顶桂冠诗人，走过的恰似王国维的人生三境界。
