First Person
When she finishes writing her Book of Scary Stories, I help her list the
contents, number the pages, compile her biography for the back
cover.
The author lives in London, I prompt. She has a cat called Pi. She
likes…? And I like Tae Kwondo and gymnastics, she says. My best
friends are . . .
At nine she is still the centre of her own universe, family and friends
orbiting. Life spins within her reach; the unconquerable ‘I’, clear,
beyond doubt.
