  My childhood dream

       春天在即，溪流水四溢，
       Spring coming, a stream overflows
       流呀，流呀，流经万灵寺；
       Up to Temple of Wanling,

       万灵寺哎——佛陀端端坐，
       Where a Buddha sits upright,
       悠哉，悠哉，香火正享乐；
       Enjoying leisure incense all right;

       哎呦——哎呦哎，愚我踏青来，
       As a little fool I passed in outing,
       兴叹汩汩水流去，路呀——难继续；
       Sighed at my road for trickle lasting,

       愚我，愚我，拖来佛陀水上卧，
       Then got the Buddha lying on water,
       乒，乒，乒，我踏佛信步过；
       Ping-and-ping stepped on him over;

       乓，乓，乓 ... ... 大智叩头鸡啄米，血流额头破，快——快，
       A Great Wise, pong-and-pong, as chicken pecking rice, kowtowed
       On his forehead bleeding, pointed to Little Fool far away, shouting
       遥指愚我喊佛陀：快——呀，佛陀，降罪小愚，当十恶不赦！
       To the Buddha: A quick punishment to him, all a heinous person!

       呃——呃，呃，佛陀笑笑说：论罪过？理应降罪你大智嘛，
       Uh ... uh, uh ... the Buddha smiled and said: On sin?
       You'll do have it. What about him? Ha ha ha,
       他呀？哈哈，哈哈哈，小愚他呀，早已不再信佛啦 ... ...
